Spring Grove MN | I spread this way except my calculation compares removal to the fertilizer rec for that area of the field (I use zone sampling). I will spread either the removal (if higher than the rec) or else spread the rec until I retest. I currently run a single bin spreader with a micro bin. Micros are normally flat rate. With the single bin I calculate the average removal of P & K and formulate a blend to match that. Based on my recs and removals I vary the rates. Because of using a single blend I may (when going off recs) under or over apply P or K in an area that needs to be built up. A twin bin spreader would eliminate this issue. | |
