Owensville, MO | The 8.3 has much more Hp potential than the 190 it's rated at in the 1660. Problem is that it is running too many rpms in the 1660 combines. Have heard of not so good results from turning them up with that high of rpm. They are rated at 215 in the 1666 but they were slowed down a couple hundred rpm also. I run a 963 corn head and 20ft. 1020 on my '92 1660 and it sure doesn't feel sluggish to me. coming up on 3700 hours. Neighbor ran it a while taking some 240 bushel corn out and he commented on how strong it felt compared to his 2144. Only 10 hp difference there but he has the small motor.
