Subject: John Deere Rate controller nh3 issue

First year using an NH3 rate controller of Deere's. Have a Continental cooler with Raven valves and Raven flowmeter.
It was very accurate all year and gave me no trouble at all.

If I'm putting on 100lbs N and start off too slow the alarm will sound that it is putting on too heavy until the rate controller corrects it, not an issue.

The problem is, if the tank runs out (once because one of the twin tanks were closed) the alarm will not sound, the flow gauge is bouncing from 60-250 lbs of N but no alarm is sounding, it bounces fast so maybe because it goes back into the right area it won't sound.
But there is no Nh3 coming out of the lines, there is only vapor pressure that is passing through the flow meter.

So what am I missing? is it the flowmeter? or just the nature of the beast?
This was a new rate controller and continental cooler this year.
