Subject: Bidding on land sale.

Hastings, Florida

A sister, who lives in another state, called me several nights ago and said they needed a favor. Seems there is a rather large piece of wooded land she wants, and would like for me to bid on it for her, using her cash. Not an extremely sought after piece of property, but in the neighborhood of 3/4 of a million bucks, They own adjacent property, and have plans, I guess. The land is in an estate of a distant relative of her husband, and there has been some family bickering as to how to dispose of it. Neither side wants the other side to have it, so the Judge suggested (ruled ? ) a public auction on the Courthouse steps. They all agreed. Seems OK to me. I do not mind making the trip. Her lawyer suggested someone who is not known to the other parties do the bidding for her, so as to keep tensions down. There again, seems OK to me. I am close to my sibling, and certainly would like to help.We have had transactions together before, and never a problem. Any pitfalls ? Suggestions ?
