I use the same thing. Really handy when trying to find a short in the fence. I can just leave the fencer on, fix the problem, and test it right there to make sure there isn't another short. Saves a lot of walking sometimes. Also I've found out if you have a good pair of boots with a rubber sole, they can trick you into thinking the fencer is off, that is until you grab the wire and a steel post at the same time.
I have a 15 joule fencer. A few years ago I was picking up some sticks a tree had lost. They were leaning on the fence but they were dry so I was just picking them off. my elbow brushed the t post and my wrist bumped the wire. There is still a burn mark on my elbow!!!! That thing hurt, now I know why the cattle want nothing to do with it!! |
