I work at an independent flooring store.  You might like Armstrong Fas Tak.  Comes in stone or wood patterns and is sticky on its entire back.  Plank shape for wood, rectangular for stone.  Totally repositionable yet it sticks down strong.  Cuts with a utility knife for installation.  Love it and anyone can install.  On par pricewise with a better sheet vinyl.
