Texas/New Mexico Stateline
"Helping" a neighbor move some cattle just across the state line in New Mexico. I only have farm tags, and did not have a trip permit. DOT gal pulled me over, I was loaded very heavy so I was nervous. I couldn't find my registration or anything. It was embarrassing. She asked what I was doing and where I had been and I told her I was just helping an neighbor move some cattle.

She said, "well since you are just "helping" and not doing it for hire, or not hauling your own which would be a commercial business you don't really need a trip permit. Just go on and next time be sure you have your registration papers with you. Have a good day......"

Whew.
