before you sign up look over the contract or even have a lawyer look at it. Then go look at the nearest wind farm and maybe talk to landowners involved. We had one go in 3 years ago here...we are still trying to get the windfarm to agree to fix the tile that their crane crushed. Where the crane crossed the road, the county had to redo that 50 foot patch because the crane ruined the road. Also pay very close attention to where the roads and towers are going, they dont really want your input but if you tell them where they can go and play hardball with them they will eventually listen. There is a square 160 right next to ours that has a road cutting the field in half. The farm is farmed north south and the road runs the length of the farm east west. It seems that convenience for the landowners is not taken into consideration at all. Lots of windmills have been put up in our area and there are alot of unhappy people about road locations, but once you sign the contract you are left without any input and are at their mercy.

Dont get me wrong I support the windfarms and like seeing them spin in the distance, but the companies could and should be more farmer friendly.
