It usually stands for "no text". The proper use is to put it in the subject line of the post to indicate that there is no further text in the message portion of the post.

For example: The original post asks a question like: which is better jd or caseih? The responding poster puts his answer in the post title with a NT behind the answer. This saves everyone from clicking on that post to see the answer.
