Subject: RE: SOYBEAN YIELD REDUCTION QUESTION

Varies

SDS can whack yields close to 70% in the affected area which can range from a few pockets to 95% of a field.

White mold can be even worse. We call it the silencer. You will be combining along in good beans and hit a white mold area of the field and the combine goes quiet.

To date I am figuring about 10% of our acres are effected. Some fields have 1-2% while others are 20-30%. And of those acres I am figuring 40-50% yield loss. So across the farm I am figuring 4-5% yield loss on total acres. I hope I'm high but got a feeling I'm close or even low as it might end up at 15% with a 50-60% reduction so closer to 7-9% yield reduction on total acres.

It sucks but part of farming. Not much we can do as most our varieties have great SDS scores. We planted in May and manage drainage and compaction as best we can. Just one of those years.
