Without reference to number of cattle being fed, the number of bales is useless. Weather also plays a roll in how much one can put out. A couple of weeks of playing around with your own herd should sort you out. One 5' bale per 25/30 head a day should be a starting point, and a few days worth should be able to go out at once.

And that is for round bale feeders making more efficient use of a bale.. If you're just dropping it in front of them or rolling it out, you can expect near 40% loses. And I'm speaking from Canadian experience, heat is a lot worse on a silage bale keeping, than snow or cold.
