I would make silage too. Did ours last year and blew into upright silo. Haven't fed any yet. It was not a BMR.
The last BMR I grew was a brachytic variety with very short internodes, so it didn't get very tall, but man was it thick. That was drilled on 7.5" spacing too. It got frosted at least 4 times and never penetrated more than a foot down into the crop. Made it really hard to get it to dry down for direct chopping.
The pictures are from the year before......I was intending to make silage and when the time came to chop it, everyone else wanted to make hay and we were in the middle of July, so I went for it. Even conditioned as shown in the second picture, tedded out flat after 3 or 4 days in the windrow and laying out for 10 days, when rain threatened, we baled it up slightly too wet! Pretty typical sudax hay making for us. Silage is so much easier!
