NE Iowa | Personally I don't think aerially seeding into standing corn will move your chopping date up at all. Aerially seeding will get you a couple inches more growth this fall but more than likely a more variable stand. I've noticed that in the spring rye that was broadcast and not incorporated tends to grow slower. My guess is that drilled rye would catch up to and possibly even pass the broadcast rye in the spring. Just my opinion but take the money you would spend on increased seeding rate for doing it aerially and also the money you would spend hiring the airplane and use it to buy extra LP. Combine your corn at higher moisture so you can get the drill in the field sooner. | |
