The Cummins motor doesn't care if you drive it like grandpa on short 10 mile hops, or like Parnelli Jones on a 50 mile drive, it just works, and works, and works. But, the EPA crapola will shut it and you down if you don't blow it out on a 50 mile trip once a week on the interstate so it can do a complete high temp exhaust regeneration.
