THe well pipe that the post is made from has an epoxy or enamel like finish on it that is very smooth and I don't think will ever show any deterioration. Yes the horizontal solid rod does have a tendency to begin to sliver off, but at 1.25'' I doubt my children will have to replace it . I know of one fence made out of this around a trailer park that is painted that I"m wondering if that won't solve that problem. There is a locol business that get's this stuff in buy the truck load and cut's the pipe to lenght and drills holes in it to fit rod thru, but wants around 30 somthing a post. Just trying to see if that is a fair price or if I might be able to earn some sweat equity on my cattle yard fences. I really loathe replacing posts more than once in a lifetime and every eight to ten years that some of these current quality posts are serving just doesn't cut it. TIA Lynn
