SW Iowa | What does it cost in yield when the burn down chem treatment don't, and, your cover crop begins to thrive and compete for moisture and nutrients about the same time your corn or SB crop is taking off and also needing the same..
At least a good discing, followed with a field cultivator is sure to knock out the cover crop, and your real cash crop has a fighting chance at a non competitive start.
If you really want to clean a field up, mold board plow down that cover crop, then FC and plant. Good green fertilizer buried where it needs to be to nourish the cash crop roots.
