Subject: Marketing for 2014 Crop

Clatonia, NE
This seems like a bad time to buy a put for 2014 productions. What are ideas on Marketing going forward into 2015 on bushels that are going into storage this fall. Should a guy buy some paper? The coop is going try to sell me a put for $0.18, I have a bad feeling about that deal. Any thoughts? I'm a smaller dryland farmer who has had drought and hail the last few years, so I've gotten a little gun shy on forward contracts. This is a bad year not to be sold ahead, but hindsight is always 20/20 and forward contracts have been real bad in recent years. I'm looking at 30,000 bu corn and 12,000 beans (projected). I know I'm not going to quit my day job anytime soon! TIA
