That is similar to a study I saw back in the 70's.  The ONLY yield response they found was nitrogen (and they also used urea) at the R1 stage.  And as I recall they consistently got a 2.5=7.0 yield bump.  I have looked for that study online, but since that was before internet, I guess no one ever posted it.  I don't remember which university did the study.
