I have traveled throughout MN in the last couple of weeks and realized that there are a pile of acres that didn't get planted. I have been from the Twin Cities to Fargo to Mankato and I was shocked at all of the bare acres. I would guess that prevented planting acres will be in the hundred of thousands in MN alone. I also saw that USDA extended prevented planting reporting out until 7/15/14 so final numbers could not have been in the 7/11/14 report. Am I dreaming that acres will fall in the next report on 8/15/14? Has USDA already factored an accurate estimate of all the prevented planting acres in the last report?
I believe that FSA doesn't report their acreage until after the Aug report. And then it will be preliminary until Oct or Nov when they release their final. So I doubt acres will change much in Aug report.
I read that NASS uses 5 yr ave ear weight for Aug report. So unless they throw out 2012 it shouldn't be huge. |
