It shows up when small corn is submerged for a long time during early flooding like we had this spring. I've got some of it too. I think that the cause has something to do with whatever causes it is able to enter it while the young plant is submerged.

Have it every few years in small areas where water stands. Usually not a very big area.

Have you gotten any rain this morning?
