North Central Illinois | While things look fantastic and we are far from being dry yet I have been concerned about late July thru August turning off hot and dry. The new maps this afternoon certainly do not point to that. Thru the first week of August they show well below normal temps and above normal precip for a big chunk of the cornbelt. NOAA maps certainly are not the gospel but they are usually about as good as any of them. That isn't saying much but it is interesting. If it plays out that way cooler temps may be the story rather than hot and dry. There is a lot of acreage that needs heat units. Not sure what this all means if anything but I found it interesting. | |
