NW Washington | The super chief plow bottoms used the thin replaceable share instead of the heavy share with a long nose on it. This type of inexpensive share was first used by Oliver which I think they called a Raydex bottom. All plows, including John Deere soon were using these "throw away" shares and the blacksmiths started losing money made by rebuilding the old type shares.
John Deere invented a steel plow that would scour well in 1837.
