If it's freepcupdater, it is malware.
Run Malwarebytes' free Antimalware once, not sure if it would get rid of the problem but it never hurts.

First, terminate any PC Updater process from the Processes tab in Windows Task Manager (right-click on the bottom Taskbar to open it.)
Uninstall it from your browser, for instance in Internet Explorer's Tools|Manage Add-Ons menu.
Check also the Programs and Features Control Panel to see if it installed some other software.
Check the Startup entry in your Start menu and the Startup tab in msconfig.

Most importantly, check that it did not hack your connection. For instance, in Internet Explorer: Tools|Internet Options|Connections|LAN settings. It may have forced a redirection to their own proxy server, you may want to unselect the "Use a proxy server" checkbox if your ISP did not force one on you.
