Absolutely not. AMS is a must. The pH of your spray water needs to be below 6.5, that .5 pH units are huge. The water is better at pH 5. Secondly as another poster has suggested, there is a necessity of the ammonium ion to activate the pesticide (herbicide example is liberty).
