Subject: RE: JD 3 bushel boxes

SE MN Still in Pothole Country
Have 3 bushel fiberglass boxes on a 12 row 20 inch planter for no-till soybeans. Nice when they work. We have two bungee straps we fasten over six row sections to help hold lids on in wind. Would never get new 20 inch planter unless it was center fill to give you a little more room to get between and work on them. When those boxes are full you soon learn to put on a chain stalks have knocked off from underneath. For some reason did not have any knocked off this year. Don't most seed companies package beans in 40 or 50 140,000 units these days? I had one variety in test plot that was over 60 pounds for a 140,000 unit. So my answer is you can get 2000 pounds in easy if empty but if 2500 pounds is going to be iffy. Another thing is the seed treatment if any which effects how the beans "pack" together.
