Southern IL Randolph County | I am about 10 miles south of Sparta where the sale was held today. I was able to plant some beans today so was unable to attend. My dad and grandfather both did alot of business with Jerry when I was growing up. That might have been the only John Deere and Duetz-Allis dealer combination dealer in the country. Jerry was mayor of Steeleville for many years and also had the local school bus contract for years. Many of his tractors and implements that he collected were pieces that he sold new originally new and then later bought back from the families. I am sure there was much sentimental value on many pieces. Jerry sold many Gleaner combines back in the day here, especially the F series were very popular for many area farmers here around the Steeleville area. |
