Coles County, Illinois | I planted with WAAS this year and the longer the rows the more nudging I had to do to follow the marker. While planting I would maybe go a couple rounds and not have to nudge it. Then in a single pass I might have 10" of drift. Following up the planter while spraying post emergence chemicals I wasn't able to use auto-steer more than about 25% of the time. When spraying I'd get centered on the row and recal the line. That would give me some time to look around at seed spacing, check nozzles, stretch, check gallons left in tank. All very useful tasks and worth the cost of auto-steer but next year I'll be upgrading to a competitor of Trimble's RTX. I think planting behind strip-till is more demanding than spraying, so I don't think you'll be satisfied with the result. | |
