Has anyone tried to make the drop table of any mechanical drive grinder and converted it to a hydraulic drive. We have a ancient Farmhand F-81C Feedmaster with the mechanical drive drop table auger that carries whatever you're grinding up to the hammer mill. We replaced the bevel gears that drive the auger back in January and they are already chewed up. We have been all over that auger to see why the gears went out so fast and we cant find anything. ( junk gears possibly?) So instead of dropping big $$$ on another set of gears that might not last I was thinking of putting a hydraulic motor on the table and driving it that way. I just wondering if anyone has tried it and if it is worth the time and effort and if it would work and how they did it. We really don't want to sink the money into a different grinder right now and it works fine other than the drop table. Thanks for any input.
