Subject: Case 1200 planter hydraulic system cooling fan. only works for some tractors?

Dodge County, WI

1200 pivot planter with the big PTO pump.
Last year we had problems with our 2000 Cat 55 and had a JD 8530 on the front of the planter. It was the first time I had seen the cooling fan run on the planter. Ever. It cycled on and off like I should. Put the Cat back on, and nothing. Ideas?
I think it must have something to do with the trailer lighting plug, but don't know what difference there could be between the two tractors in that respect.
