NE Iowa | I always have one small field of cereal rye near the barn that the cows run in the spring. I plant all of my other fields first and leave this one until last. If the weather is decent and the rye is growing well sometimes I hold off planting to get some more grazing. I like to start planting beans May 1st and will wait on this field until May 15th. At that point I chase the cows out and start planting 2 minutes later. I spray off the back of the drill to kill the rye stubble. By the way, are you ever going to stop grazing the front yard and buy a lawnmower? My wife would kill me.
