Renting a no-till drill here is $12 to $14 an acre here. You can't buy a worn out drill for less than $6k. I don't know what the custom planting rate is. I rented a drill for a couple of years, and I always had to about rebuild it to get it set right. Too many people with their fingers on them. Most were not familiar with the drills. So, I bought my own. It will never pay for itself for all I plant, but I go to the field the day I want. I know what rate I'm planting.
