Maybe you should stick to sharing recipes in the Kitchen section, Chimel. To make a claim we should stop investing in a promising technology based on one perhaps flawed study is premature. So, the researchers used a super-computer to reach these conclusions? Impressive. However, under the heading "garbage in, garbage out" they based it all on some silly assumptions. First, they figured on growing 1/3 more corn acres than we've ever planted and then assumed we would harvest 100% of the stover off those acres.

In the trials I've read about, many of the stover harvesters are mainly collecting cobs and shucks, leaving the high-lignin stalks to protect against erosion and continue to build soil organic matter. When a researcher exaggerates in this way, it makes you wonder if they are seeking answers or headlines.
