heck, everything from soup to nuts is up 7 to 14% now ( since Dec 1, 2013 ).
I think the CA drouth deal is huge factor.
Food ( close to the plate stuff....lettuce, carrots, etc., etc.,, ) production areas will change a Bunch over the next 5 years if CA stays dried out.
Matter of fact...a bunch will be produced in the Midwest.
pretty tough to beat pivots in places like NE.
This might be the year that the average consumer gets a HUGE education on just exactly where food comes from and how expensive food is compared to other countries.
Unfortunately I expect a few more salmonella and E.coli scares as produce comes from further south in greater quantities. Hope I'm wrong.
Maybe when the grocery bill doubles people will wake up. Probably just increase consumption of processed crap instead and pad margins for conglomerates. Might be a run on Tuna Helper and Spam.
