The other factor that distorts land prices, is the artificially low quota prices. If someone buys an ongoing dairy farm, the book value of the quota cannot be more than $25,000 per KG, but some people are paying more than $30,000-$35,000 for a KG of quota, so the difference in the purchase price gets added to the land price. Does not mean the land prices are that high. | |
