| Let's take Chris' question one step further - Do you have MORE THAN ONE anti-virus system installed? New computers come with free trials of anti-virus and security software. AVAST is a respectable suite, however, if your computer's freebie AV is still running, you're slowing yourself down tremendously.
Additionally, you may wish to scan through your "event viewer" logs ( Click start, in the search box type in event viewer and then let it populate with results). Failures and conflicts will show up, giving you an idea of where to look. | |
