Subject: RE: Best 1790 Wheel Position?

Driftless SW Wisconsin
The JD1790 is CCS planter with all seed weight on the center of three sections. While planter may appear level across its width sitting on concrete, when you go to the field, esp in worked or muddy ground, and put around 7000 lb of seed on the center section only, the center sinks below the standard 20" frame height (underside of 7x7 to ground in line with seed path). The four center section lift wheels should be one hole lower (equals frame higher) than the wings/as shipped position in most applications. This is important & best done by raising the planter and installing one transport stop only then lowering the planter raising one pair of tires hydraulically so you can move the axle bolts.
