If I am doing tillage on corn ground, I typically use a landoll finish disk. It's closely spaced blades do an excellent job sizing residue without throwing much dirt. On some of our soils, no till is the way to go. I never do corn on corn, so I split the corn rows and no till in beans with my corn planter. If you use a drill or an air seeder, I would recommend light vertical tillage like a landoll or supercoulter ahead of the planter. Stands seem to be significantly better for me when I do so ahead of my air seeder.
