Neat, I have seen several of those 2 cyl engines on old city power plants. would have a big open frame generator about where the big flat belt pulley is. Notice the belt pulley has an internal clutch so the pulley can be stopped / started without stopping the engine.
They are a loop charged 2 cycle diesel that uses air start.

Have seen running examples at Rollag Minn and New Rockford ND.

Last fall at the New Rockford ND threshing show, where they have two of those on gen sets.

The ones at New Rockford are housed in a tin shed with a big exhaust stack. While air starting it , the thing had black puffs of smoke and 3 ft red orange flames from the stack. Kind of impressive. Built in the 1920's They run with a unique 2 cycle PONK ,PONK, PONK, PONK exhaust sound.
