Bridgeport is 36" travel in x axis (left-right). All the popular milling machines that you will find at auctions for ~$2500 are basically Bridgeport size.

#40 or #50, what kind of taper? All the old mills will be NMTB. The cheaper used tooling on Ebay is mostly CAT. NMTB uses a drawbar, CAT uses a pull stud. The taper is the same but its a chore to make it all work together.

Bridgeport uses a 1/2" drawbar which is #30 size. There are NMTB #30 spindle conversions, but #30 is uncommon so if you are looking for deals on used tooling you might as well stay R8.

You can't reposition your work piece to make the 36" travel work?
