Little River, TX | Try this link and look for varieties you might be interested in, http://alfalfa.org/falldormancy.html
These people are the National Alfalfa Consortium and they list most of the available varieties. They should have a new varieties listing some time in September.
You can try the head man at WL, Mike Peterson, [email protected], or the regional sales rep who covers Texas, Jerry Gano [email protected] .
Your variety is a FD 5 but not one I would choose. I look for better pest resistance than it indicates. There just are not a large selection for FD 5 & 6. If you can grow a FD 7 look at the WL 442.
I find the higher the FD the better the production is here. When I plant a more dormant variety I have less problem with alfalfa weevils, but have less total yield, and slower regrowth. | |
