Subject: State of KS and DOT numbers

Got a notice today with my tags statement for my semi that as of Jan 1, 2014 all trucks over 10,001 lbs in KS will be considered Commercial Vehicles and you must obtain a US DOT number. I have been draggin my feet about getting a DOT number.
So will Joe Blow in town with his 3/4 ton pick need to get a DOT number as well?
