Subject: Re: new shop

Van Wert, OHIO
With all the talk recently on new shops, we are getting close to putting the ceiling and liner up on ours. Its a stick built 66 x72 16ft built on 16" centers on an 8" concrete wall, yes there is a lot of wood in this shop and everyone that has been in it has said the same. We put floor heat in and just recently had the walls sprayed with foam to seal up everything.
Hoping to get the ceiling up yet this month so we can get the rest the insulation done. Going with blown cellulose out to the edge of the inside purlins makes it about an R34 and blow 15" in the ceiling for an R50. As for the knee braces they will come out when the ceiling goes up, the guy building this has done several and with all the extra bracing he puts in says they do not need to be in there when we finish it. There are hurricane straps on the top securing each rafter to the wall and one every 4' anchoring the walls to the concrete.
This week we are working on putting rapid airlines in, we went with the 3/4" max air and are going to put a whole loop in. Everything is getting put behind the wall so some things are taking a little longer than we originally thought but we are only going to build once. We are going with 4 rows of 6 T8 lights.
We put in 2 24' overhead doors one 15' high the other 15'9". The reason for the extra 9" the guy building it said you might as well get every inch you can he said you can order them in 3" increments so that's how we decided on that. There are 2 walk in doors and 6 3x4 windows. I need to get the whole picture thing figured out and get some pictures up.
