mschultz - 12/8/2013 16:59 What is Watson referring to with the word "Freddy" in the "Me & Freddy & Jake" song lyric? Minute 1:45 talks about "Summertime on the Grapevine …. turbo whining, head gauge climbing…. Freddy cooled her down and saved the day" if that helps. Music here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NDQ7HEj3kDo Thanks, Mike

I really wondered about this subject, having owned an old Freightliner once, I had never heard the term.  Could this link have something to do with it?   http://www.google.com/patents/US6048500

I downloaded some pictures of gauges in the cab, and a cylindrical object in the engine compartment that was said to be part of a truck freddie.  Would removing pollutants from exhaust cool the engine if it happened before the turbo?  Also, not sure of when this was available, suspect it is a fairly recent device, perhaps before the song?

Good post here, I would like to hear from someone who has had experience with a truck freddy.
