Missouri | The fireplace in the house I bought a few years ago has a gas log lighter. I've never used it until today, as the end is broken. It's just a 1/2" piece of steel pipe that comes from the bottom, in the center, pointing straight up. I had to dig ash out of the pipe to get any gas flow at all, but once I did that, it was a rather convenient way to start the fire.
What should be on the top of that pipe, and where can I buy a replacement? I've tried looking online, but all the ones I can find that way look like they come in horizontally from the side. My pipe comes up from underneath, almost in the exact center of the fireplace. I'd like to get a proper end on it before I use it again, and also to keep the ash from falling back down the presently opened top end of the pipe.
Thanks. | |
