ECWI
I believe the injector pump on a 9400/10 is a mechanical linkage, therefore you only have idle or full throttle. 9500/10 are electronic inj. Pumps. The 9500 first had 3 speeds in 93 I believe, along with a lot of other updates/upgrades. I would get at least a 93 9500, after that the upgrade where mostly minor cosmetic things. Also I think the late 9500 (96-97) models are over priced for no real reason other than being newer. By now most all 9500 have the 10 series " guts" in them anyway. Jmo tho. If your set on a 9400 , make sure it's new enough to have the 6.8 engine '91ish I believe. You'll have to restrain your self from driving to fast or you'll push it over the short walkers. If it has harvesttrac, that will tell you when it's going out the back. 9410's will be over priced compared to a 9500. Happy shopping! A 9410 WILL be a back step in capacity compared to a 7720.
