About the drain, you could just buy a 1/4" or 3/8" pipe coupling(internal threads, already); then cut it in half, weld the "cut end" onto the tank, then drill a hole thru the tank, afterwards(drilling inside the coupling, itself). The coupling will give you plenty of "pipe thread" so you don't have to worry about the thickness of your tank's walls.
