Subject: Re: Semi trailer brake question - outboard drums

central mich
We buy our used hubs from a truck salvage yard. If the brake drums are good enough to run then we use them. They are easy to replace. So we have two sets of bearings and just pick the best set. I can not remember if we have ever burned up a wheel bearing. We did rent our lowboy a few years ago and had a new set of tires and hub pilot aluminum all come off together in south Florida. And a dealer in central Florida had just installed all of the hubs on the trailer. Mechanic must have missed a lock. Driver said the last time he saw them they were rolling down the express way and he had no place to pull over.
