Subject: Re: white corn drying

South Eastern ,ILL
We've been drying white & yellow food grade corn for 13 years. Ideally a stirator with 100 degree
heat is the utlimate, but realistically it's to slow. We've been using a continious flow dryer for 12
years @ 140 heat, trying for 105 exit temperature. At these low temps it cuts the capacity down
at least 50-75% of what the dryer is capable of. You need about twice as big of dryer, to accomplish the same bu. per .day .Also when
you compare the dryer specifications, most use an ambient temperature of 50 degrees to show
dryer capacities, this makes a world of difference in what the dryer will actually dry in your conditions. Most people think warmer conditions
the dryer performs better, it's actually @ 50- 60 degree weather.
