I had to do this about 1987 or so for much of my crop due to mud. Agreed that below 20 F is crucial, don't even try it above that temp. Check sieves with a flashlight often and always be mindful of temperature changes. The colder the better is pretty true. If you ice the sieves, don't shut the separator off until you are in a warm building, then let it thaw out before doing anything or you will break important stuff.
