I put a denso starter on mine and it helped. What helped the most, I have a 72 model , I put in 2 12 volt batteries and ran a positive cable from both batteries to the starter and ground cables to the frame. It made a huge difference. It turns over and fires right now. Getting rid of 2 6 volts hooked together to get 12 volts was the ticket.
